Jan van Bennekom-Minnema

Jan van Bennekom-Minnema is a specialist in geographic information and information system development, with over 30 years of professional experience. Jan is fluent in the English-language (verbal and in writing), and he holds a Master of Science Geographical Information Management and Applications with distinction ‘cum laude’.
He has worked in Africa, West and Eastern Europe, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Middle East and Asia on projects related to (geographical) information system development (fit-for-purpose, business / mission-critical), data processing, analysis and production. These projects covered the subjects: land administration, land registry and cadastre, systematic property registration, field tenure data collection, urban/spatial planning, spatial development frameworks and public asset management.
He has obtained substantial experience in all roles and phases of these projects: project manager; team leader; IT/IS architect; auditor (QA/QC) of software architecture, data integrity, source code and deliverable quality; writer of procurement bidding documents and system requirements; (spatial) data analyst; data conversion and migration; business process redesign (BPR); information system/software design, development/programming and implementation; test manager; and trainer of local specialists and users.
He actively maintains and expands his skills and knowledge of current and novel (geospatial) technologies (e.g. spatial data infrastructures (SDI), geo-databases, geo-web services, model-driven software generation), as well as on available open geospatial data sources (e.g. open data from WB, WHO, GHSL, WorldPop, GeoNames, Open Street Map, Living Atlas, Open Digital Elevation Model, national Census Bureaus).
